Oh My Cod

I’ve been coming here for 7–8 years, and I can honestly say this is the best fish and chip shop I’ve ever been to – and that’s after trying the famous places like Listen Grove. My wife is a chef, and we even run our own food establishment, yet we’ve never had fish and chips this good anywhere. We’re here every single week. The only downside? It’s far too addictive – the whole family loves it, and we can never get enough. The chips are perfection: double-fried, golden and crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. The fish is always huge – so big it easily feeds more than one person (and I train hard at the gym, so I don’t say that lightly!). The freshness, the crunch, and the flavour are just mind-blowing every single time. On top of that, the service is fantastic, the shop is spotless, and there’s always easy parking. It ticks every single box. Honestly, I can’t recommend Oh My Cod enough. If you think you know good fish and chips, come here – it will completely reset the standard for you.

I wasn’t fishing for anything fancy, just craving some classic fish and chips — but Oh My Cod totally reeled me in. From the moment I walked in, the smell of crispy batter and fresh-cut chips told me I was in for a whale of a meal. The cod? Holy mackerel, it was perfect. Light, flaky, and encased in a golden, crunchy batter that didn’t feel greasy. The chips were thick, hot, and fluffy inside — exactly how they should be. Even the mushy peas were on point, and I’m not usually one to carp on about sides. Portion sizes? Let’s just say I didn’t leave feeling shellfish. You get your money’s worth here, no doubt. And the staff? Friendly, fast, and clearly know their way around a fryer.

Best in Maidenhead, in my opinion. Huge portions and delicious, too. They have some amazing guys working there, that treat each customer in the best way they can. My go-to place for a tasty fish&chips.

A Sonnet for Oh My Cod Oh My Cod, thou art a plaice beyond compare, Thy golden batter shines, a crispy ray, Each chip a treasure, salted with such care, That makes all flound’ring hunger swim away. Thy haddock reigns supreme, thy cod does rule, With portions vast enough to whale astound, No other chippy carp-ares — they play the fool, Whilst here true ocean riches do abound. Really good freshly cooked chips, fish and friendly service. Well worth the money. Banging!!!
